Framed Fancy

Brighten any room your home with this free-standing craft project using Viva Decor products.   Clothespins and aluminum flashing form the base of the project, while recycled gift boxes are used as the base for the artwork.

Aluminum flashing can be found in home supply stores in the roofing department.  Flashing is sold in 5 by 7-inch sheets and is easily cut with inexpensive craft scissors.  Of course, I have a dedicated pair of craft scissors for cutting aluminum flashing.  Never use your good scissors with aluminum flashing.

If you do not have used gift boxes, you can always use cereal boxes instead.  You will have to paint the cereal box white.

Do not discard that white plastic bag from your purchase at the home supply store.  You will be using the plastic bag to apply the ink onto the aluminum and then using it as an embellishment in the flower artwork.  You will also use that same plastic bag piece as an element in the collage.

Base

Cut a 1 1/2 by 5-inch rectangle and a 3-inch high by 2 1/2-inch wide heart from the aluminum flashing.

Cut a white plastic bag to measure 5 by 3-inches and then crumble it into a ball.

Protect your hands from the ink by wearing craft gloves. Place the Red Marble Ink onto the plastic bag ball and then apply the ink to the aluminum flashing rectangle and heart.  Let dry.

Punch a hole on each side of the heart and insert two heart brads.

Glue the heart onto the center of the rectangle with metal glue.

Glue one clothespin to the back of the right side of the rectangle and one clothespin to the back of the left side of the rectangle with the metal glue.  Let the glue dry.

Apply the Red Marble Ink to the clothespins and then create dots on the clothespins and heart with the Pearl Pink Pearl Pen and the Rose Paper Pen.  Let dry.

Flowered Artwork

Cut two 5 3/4-inch squares from a white gift box and then glue the two squares together.  Cut two additional 3 1/2-inch squares with a 2 1/2-inch opening in each square.  Glue these two open squares together to create a frame.

Use a sponge to lightly apply Magenta Paper Soft Color over the white matte frame.  Let the ink dry.  Apply the Obsession Pink Glitter Liner over the open square and then create tiny dots with the Pearl Pink Pearl Pen and the Rose Paper Pen.  Let dry.

Cut a 3 1/2-inch square from the white gift box and glue it to the back of the decorated frame.

Draw a 3/4 by 2-inch rectangle on a piece of plastic wrap with the Pearl Pink Pearl Pen.  Leave tiny spaces when filling in the rectangle. Let dry.  Fill the open holes with the Moss Green Paper Pen.  Let dry and then peel from the plastic wrap.  Use clear-drying craft glue to attach the rectangle to the center of the frame.

Cut a 1-inch wide by 1 1/4-inch high heart from the aluminum flashing.  Apply the Red Marble Ink over the heart with the crumbled white plastic bag.  Let the ink dry.  Create tiny circles around the heart with the Rose Paper Pen.   Let dry.

Create a hole in the center of the heart and put the heart brad through the heart.  Apply the Rose Paper Pen onto the heart brad.

Glue the heart to the fabric petals and then glue the petals over the rose-colored rectangle.

Apply the Magenta Soft Color Ink over the 5 3/4-inch square.  Apply the ink darker along the edges of the square.  Smooth out the plastic bag that you used for the Red Marble Ink and then glue it to the left side of the square.  Glue the framed flower to the center of the 5 3/4-inch square.

Add tiny dots of Rose Paper Pen and Obsession Glitter Liner around the edges of the 5 3/4-inch square.  Let dry.

Insert the artwork into the clothespins in the heart base.
